~11 TiB Total Library Across dedicated drives

The media server runs entirely on the main PC, managing a library that spans anime, TV shows, films, and music across dedicated storage drives. Everything is automated โ€” new episodes and releases are found, downloaded, sorted, and renamed without any manual intervention.

Prowlarr acts as the central indexer hub, feeding search requests to Sonarr, Radarr, and Lidarr. qBittorrent handles all downloads. Plex sits on top and serves everything to any screen in the house.

The anime collection is particularly large โ€” the bulk of the 346 series and 6.1 TiB of TV content is anime, spread across genre, era, and format.

Prowlarr
Indexer Hub
Central indexer manager for the entire stack. Connects once to all indexers and syncs them to Sonarr, Radarr, and Lidarr automatically โ€” no per-app indexer configuration needed.
Plex
Media Frontend
Serves the entire library to any screen โ€” desktop, TV, phone, tablet. Handles metadata, thumbnails, watch progress, and playback. Jellyfin is on the roadmap as a local-first alternative.
qBittorrent
Download Client
Handles all downloads for the stack. Sonarr, Radarr, and Lidarr send requests directly to qBittorrent, which downloads and seeds. Files are moved to their final library location on completion.
01
Add to Watchlist
Add a series, film, or artist to Sonarr, Radarr, or Lidarr. It's immediately monitored โ€” new releases will be grabbed automatically from that point forward.
02
Prowlarr Searches
When a release becomes available, Prowlarr queries all connected indexers simultaneously and returns the best match based on quality profile settings.
03
qBittorrent Downloads
The matched release is sent to qBittorrent. It downloads, seeds, and signals back when complete. No manual torrent management needed.
04
Library Updated
The file is moved to the correct library folder, renamed according to naming conventions, and Plex is notified to scan. It appears in the library ready to play.

Dedicated Drives

Each media type has its own dedicated drive in the JBOD caddy on the main PC. No RAID โ€” pure individual drives, each managed separately. The setup is simple and expandable: need more space, add a drive.

Total managed storage across the three media libraries sits at around 11 TiB, with headroom remaining on each drive. The NAS (HP MicroServer Gen8, planned) will eventually take over as the central storage point, with Plex and the \*arr stack pointing there instead.
